Marine Weather (Open Water and Near Shore)
The National Weather Service (NWS), a part of the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), provides marine warnings
and forecasts to serve all mariners who use the waters for
livelihood or recreation.

Data Buoy Center (south Lake Michigan)
map of Lake Michigan weather buoys, giving up-to-the-hour wind,
weather, and wave data, and hourly reports of last 24 hours. Now
you can watch the "perfect storm" in real time on the
buoys! Fantastic site.

This Madison, Wisconsin shop hosts the annual Canoecopia
- the "world's largest paddlesport exposition. Rutabaga is
also a center for Sea Kayaking instruction (BCU, I believe).

River Supplies (NRS)
Great selection of all sorts of paddling gear. Wetsuits,
paddles, paddling jackets, and accessories. NRS is geared
more for whitewater paddling, but the sea kayaker can find lots of
stuff here too.

Local boating retail store, located on North Ave., close to
the LPBC Boathouse. Carries mostly yachting equipment, but also
has lots of stuff useful to the kayaker (i.e., handheld marine
radios).

Park
Paddling in the Park is a two-day canoeing and kayaking festival - a
combination work shop, history lesson and trade show as the Chicago
Tribune called it. ACA instructors teach two-hour lessons in solo
and tandem canoe, river and sea kayaking

Held held
at the Dane County Exposition Center in Madison, Wisconsin, this expo offers
workshops and lots of discounted paddling equipment.

The Illinois Paddling Council (IPC) was organized in 1962 and is a

Illinois. The Illinois Paddling council is dedicated to promoting the

organization, still active. Offers a

The Peninsula Paddlers Sea Kayaking Club is a loosely organized

County, Wisconsin. Door County has more miles of shoreline,
